Checklist for Thinking Aloud Test
- Preparation:
- Start Thunderbird and check screencast software.
- The screencast software should not record the mouse trail and record with a
lossless coding.
- Check that everything is ready in test room (camera, microphone, internet
connection, water).
- Check the settings of the external video recording ar correct (720p
(1280×720) MP4; 25 FPS).
- Check if you have a backup AA batteries for the microphone.
- Do a test-recording to the external hard drive.
- Opening:
- Go through orientation script and set the stage.
- Ask questions on background questionnaire: facilitator
asks and fills out form.
- Ask user to read and sign the consent form.
- Test Session:
- Move over to testing area (computer).
- Start computerised session recording.
- Provide any prior training.
- Provide training of thinking aloud.
- User begins with tasks.
- User should download the nightly build.
- If the testuser doesn't look automatically at the "Web of Trust" (sign key) part, tell him to do so.
- User finishes last task.
- Closing:
- Interview: how was it?
- Structured interview questions.
- Individual interview questions arising from test.
- Feedback questionnaire. User fills out form.
- Thank participant, provide any remuneration.
- Wrap-Up:
- Summarise thoughts about this test.
- Organise data sheets and notes.
- Check and archive session recordings.
